Often undervalued and consequently under-serviced, tools aimed at helping small business owners were relatively sparse and poorly designed.
We built a platform driven by an expert system to guide users through setting up a business for the first time, and for existing customers we built a micro-app ecosystem, allowing them to connect all essential services of their business.
Recognising an important and valuable segment of their customer base, Suncorp wanted to see how they could engage this audience and asked to explore any potential products that could be designed and built to meet the customer's needs.
Though research, two core moments were identified: the initial moment of starting their own business; and reaching the point where they were ready to significantly grow their business. We focused on creating tools to assist with these.
Two products were created; Start Company, which was a function-driven experience, educating the user with a no-obligation, self-service approach in the form of actionable 'blueprints'. The other, VBM, underwent an early pivot to become focused on features that users needed, such as scheduling & invoicing, with worksheets to increase sales, referrals and increased margins.
